The Minnesota Wild host the Colorado Avalanche in a Central Division NHL Saturday matchup.

The Colorado Avalanche look to get back in the win column after a 1-0 loss to visiting Tampa Bay Tuesday snapped a three game winning streak. Defense was the name of the game with the Avalanche unable to get going at the offensive end of the ice with Semyon Varlamov making 23 stops in a losing effort.

The Lightning have the ability to win by outscoring the opposition or by standing tall defensively and on Wednesday the team rode their defense with a third period power play goal from Nikita Kucherov making the 22 saves of Andrei Vasilevskiy a winner.

The Minnesota Wild have been strong at both ends of the ice in forging a four game winning streak capped off with a 4-1 win versus the LA Kings. Kyle Clifford scored an unassisted third period goal for the Kings with Jack Campbell allowing two goals on 24 shots to get the loss.

The Wild received goals from Eric Fehr and Jonas Brodin with Mikael Granlund and Mikko Koivu adding empty net tallies in the final minute. Ryan Sutter posted a pair of helpers for Minnesota with Devan Dubnyk stopping 23 shots.

Under is 4-0 in Avalanche last 4 vs. Central and Avalanche are 4-0 in their last 4 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and under is 5-0 in Avalanche last 5 vs. Western Conference. Wild are 4-0 in their last 4 overall and Wild are 0-4 in their last 4 games playing on 1 days rest and under is 3-0-1 in Wild last 4 vs. Western Conference. Avalanche are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and home team is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings and Avalanche are 3-10 in the last 13 meetings in Minnesota.

An argument could be made for either side but I’ll go with the home team…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
