The Wild look to use home ice to their advantage on Monday night as they return to the X looking to pull the series to 2-1 against the Dallas Stars.
The Stars dominated game one and held on for a nailbiting game two victory and now take to the road looking to push the Wild to the brink of elimination as the series shifts back to Minnesota for the next two. Dallas is loaded offensively and with Tyler Seguin expected back in the lineup for this one it makes them even more dangerous and for a Minnesota team that struggles to score goals it is an absolute nightmare scenario for them as they continue to move forward without Zach Parise. Dallas was a very impressive 22-12-7 on the road this season and will go right back to the well with Kari Lehtonen in this one as he has only conceded a single goal in 120 minutes of play and he will be a focal point of this one as the Wild try to rattle his cage a little bit.
The Wild squeaked into the playoffs as the second wild card team in the Western Conference and backed their way in with a 5-5 mark in their last 10 contests and finished the year with a modest 38-33-11 mark. However, they are a playoff team for a reason as there were plenty of quality teams in the West that didn’t get in and while the Stars were the best in the Conference during the regular season and already have two wins under their belt they know it is very tough to win four in a row against any team capable of making the playoffs. Dallas is the favourite in this spot and while I could very well see them coasting through this series and completing the sweep I think the Wild have a little too much pride and did play very well in game two which I think will translate into a victory on home ice here at plus money.
