The Dallas Stars take their second swing at advancing to the next round as they face off against the Wild in Minnesota for game six on Sunday.
The Stars head back to the X looking for their second win in three tries in Minnesota this series and if they can push through on Sunday they will book their ticket to the second round and set up a show down with the Blues or Blackhawks. Dallas has been among the league’s best all season long but they have had trouble at times in this series and a lot of that has to do with their play in the defensive zone as they have conceded some pretty high goal totals against an underwhelming Wild offense and some sirens are starting to go off. Dallas does have the offensive firepower to break out at any moment and will need guys like Jamie Benn, Patrick Sharp, and the injured Tyler Seguin if they’re going to make a deep playoff run.
Minnesota was given no chance heading into this series with the Stars, especially without Zach Parise in the lineup but they have done just fine through five games and have a chance at forcing a deciding game seven if they can muster another win today. The Wild are best known for their defensive style and will need it again in a big way tonight as the Stars like to use their offensive weaponry to their advantage and in an elimination for Minnesota you can expect Dallas to try and push the pace and turn this game into a shootout which greatly suits their style of play. However, Minny is actually a pretty solid team at home and while they split the first two games at the X so far I think they pull ahead here and push this series to the limit.
