The Predators and Wild meet up for a show down of heavyweights in Minnesota on Thursday night as the teams jockey for position in the Central division.
The Preds and Wild head into tonight's game sporting identical 7-2-2 records yet somehow in the Central division that is good enough for fifth and fourth, respectively, in what is quickly becoming one of the most dominant division in professional sports. Both Minny and Nashville have two games in hand on the Dallas Stars which plays a role in what they sit so far back and even though we are in the early stages of the season both teams know that tonight’s game can go a long way in determining playoff seeding or whether or not they even qualify. Pekka Rinne is expected to start as he will go up against Devan Dubnyk.
The Wild are undefeated on home ice so far in what is one of the best home crowds in the NHL and if they can keep it up and defend their territory they will be a very tough team to beat come playoff time. The Wild were sent packing in the second round last season but have been knocking on the door the last couple of years and this year should be no different but the window on this group is closing quickly and they need to sort it out soon. This is going to be a great game to watch and while the value is with the Preds I think Minnesota is the better team and with Ryan Suter playing his former mates I think he will step it up a notch once again.
