The Xcel Energy Center and the Minnesota Wild welcome the Nashville Predators to town fro a Friday NHL tilt.

The Nashville Predators were one of the hottest teams in the game a week or so ago but have stumbled a bit right before the Christmas break. Nashville had lost three straight before upending the struggling St. Louis Blues 2-1 on Wednesday night. The Blues are having issues at the offensive end with Vladimir Sobotka scoring their only goal in the third period.

The Predators took a 1-0 lead at 10:37 of the first on a Craig Smith tally off an assist from Roman Josi with Calle Jarnkrok scoring in the second with 3:11  left in the period. Pekka Rinne improved to 19-6-3 with a 29 save performance while Jake Allen absorbed the loss for St. Louis with 24 stops that dropped him to 18-11-2.

The Minnesota Wild were hot a few short weeks ago but have had some issues putting the puck in the net with defeats in four of five with five goals scored in the losses. Minnesota looks to build on a 4-2 win versus the visiting Dallas Stars on Wednesday night where Tyler Seguin and Mattias Janmark scored for the Stars with Seguin adding an assist.

The balanced Minnesota attack featured scoring from Mikeal Granlund, Eric Staal, and Jared Spurgeon. Jason Zucker secured the win for the Wild with an empty netter while Charlie Coyle added a pair of helpers to make Alex Stalock and his 24 saves hold up. Ben Bishop recorded 27 stops in a losing effort for Dallas.

Over is 4-0 in Predators last 4 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and Predators are 6-1 in their last 7 road games vs. a team with a home winning % of greater than .600 and Predators are 5-1 in their last 6 road games. Wild are 6-1 in their last 7 home games and Wild are 5-1 in their last 6 games playing on 1 days rest and under is 4-1 in Wild last 5 home games. Over is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings and over is 17-7-4 in the last 28 meetings in Minnesota.

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
