The Wild return indoors after a very successful showing in the Stadium Series match up against the Hawks over the weekend.
The New York Islanders head into The X on Tuesday night to face off against a red hot Minnesota Wild team that built on a successful Western Canada road trip and parlayed that into their biggest win of the year against the defending champions on Sunday. The Isles will look to keep pace in the Metro division with a victory as they currently sit in third place with 69 points, but they do hold two games in hand on the New York Rangers and could turn those into big points and steal home ice away in the opening round. New York has to stay focused though as there are a handful of teams in their rear view as the likes of Pittsburgh, New Jersey, and Carolina are still in the fold and will also be looking to land a berth in the Eastern Conference playoff bracket.
The Wild have been lights out under new head coach John Torchetti as they have yet to lose a game and now return home to face off against a team that has similar aspirations of getting into the playoffs. Minnesota had been under achieving most of the season and after an ugly eight game losing skid they had enough and fired former coach Mike Yeo who ultimately took the heat for a group that seemed to have lost their way. Minnesota is a traditionally a very tough out at home and at this price against a good Islanders side I will bite as I think they keep their winning ways intact.
