The Line: Minnesota Wild -190 / New York Rangers +171 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The New York Rangers visit the Xcel Energy Center to take the ice with the Minnesota Wild in an NHL tilt.
The New York Rangers had virtually no success for weeks with a slumping offense and a defense that was allowing goals in bunches. New York is trying to work their way back and looking to build on consecutive victories after downing the Winnipeg Jets 3-1 on Sunday. Nikolaj Ehlers scored 66 seconds in for Winnipeg but the offense was a non-factor the rest of the way.
Mats Zuccarello lit the lamp for New York with 1:06 remaining in the first with Jimmy Vesey netting the winner in the third. Michael Grabner scored on the empty net to secure the win and Henrik Lundqvist recorded 37 saves to get the win for New York while Connor Hellebuyck absorbed the loss with 25 stops.
The Minnesota Wild are playing well with wins in six of nine with 14 points in this stretch. Minnesota is sitting in 5th in the Central and trying to improve on their playoff position. The Wild come in off of a 3-0 win versus Chicago where Jeff Glass recorded 16 saves in a losing effort.
Charlie Coyle gave Minnesota a 1-0 lead just under two minutes in to the first period before Mikko Koivu lit the lamp with the man advantage. Coyle struck again at 2:22 of the second and Devan Dubnyk did the rest with a monster 44 save performance.
Rangers are 1-6 in their last 7 vs. Central and over is 6-1 in Rangers last 7 Tuesday games and Rangers are 1-5 in their last 6 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. Over is 4-0 in Wild last 4 after allowing 2 goals or less in their previous game and over is 4-0 in Wild last 4 games following a win and Wild are 5-1 in their last 6 Tuesday games. Over is 4-1-1 in the last 6 meetings.
The Rangers will be looking for their third straight upset and they might get it but I’m looking for goals to be scored…
