The Senators look to keep their playoff hopes intact and notch their sixth win in a row on Tuesday as they head into Minnesota to face off against the Wild.
The Senators have picked a very opportune time to go on a six game winning streak as they have climbed right back into the wild card picture in the Eastern Conference and while it'll take sustained excellence to pull the feat off they are only seven points back of the Bruins for the second spot. Ottawa has been rejuvenated and they owe it to a trip to the West coast where they swept thrugh California and received some stellar net minding from rookie Andrew Hammond who took the league by storm this past week and will continue to get starts until he falters. Ottawa is a .500 team on the road this season whereas the Wild are 17-8-5 at home and are desperate for a win as well to maintain their grasp on the second wild card spot in the Western Conference.
The Wild are all too familiar with what the Sens are experiencing right now as they went through the same elation when Devan Dubnyk came on board and propelled them to a substantial winning streak and now with a 7-2-1 mark in their last 10 the Wild continue to look like a playoff contender. Minnesota is a very well balanced team that is finally putting it altogether and are definitely a group you don't want to see come playoff time as they were underachieving for months and are now looking to make a statement. Minnesota is actually getting a respectable price here considering how well they play at home and I like our chances here with the home side ending Ottawa's winning streak and I think they do it with confidence against Andrew Hammond and the Sense.
