The Flyers look to build on their big victory over the Canadiens in their last outing as they take to the road to battle the Minnesota Wild.
The Philadelphia Flyers head into Thursday’s contest with the Minnesota Wild looking to win back to back games and continue their climb up the Metro division standings but will face a stiff test as the Wild have been as good as they come at home this season. Philly had a nice game against the Canadiens but that has been easy to come by of late as the Habs have been atrocious without Carey Price and will need to find a way to play more consistently and give their battery of goaltenders something to work with. The Flyers though are in a decent spot in the Metro right now as they’re just six points out of a wild card position and if they can muster up enough to take down the Wild here they’d be in great shape moving forward.
The Wild take to the ice looking to win their second straight as well and stay afloat in the race for the Central division crown and while that task may be a little too ambitious they are right in the mix for an automatic berth as a top three seed. Minny has been very good at home with a 14-5-1 mark and with Devan Dubnyk lined up to get the start here it gives the Wild an edge in goal as the Flyers will counter with Steve Mason. There is something about this team in this building and while Philly is getting a great value I just don’t see it happening as Minny continues their success at home.
