The Pittsburgh Penguins and the Minnesota Wild lock horns in an NHL tilt on Saturday night.

The Pittsburgh Penguins look to continue their hot start with a road trip to face the Minnesota Wild on Saturday. Pittsburgh has won consecutive overtime contests by identical 2-1 scores after downing the visiting Winnipeg Jets on Thursday night.

Phil Kessel reached a personal milestone with goal number 300 of his career which came on a breakaway at 1:07 of the extra session to lift the Penguins to wins in five of six. The Pens scored just 1:25 in to the first period on Conor Sheary’s tip in/redirection.

Winnipeg tied the score at 9:25 of the first on a Josh Morrissey tally but what looked like an offensive show never materialized. Matt Murray was solid between the pipes for Pittsburgh with 30 saves to up his record to 7-0-1. Connor Hellebucyk was outstanding in the nets for the Jets in defeat with 34 stops.

Win or lose the Minnesota Wild have been involved in their share of high scoring affairs. Minnesota had another offensive explosion in a 6-4 victory versus the visiting New York Islanders for wins in two of three.

The balanced Wild attack featured shorthanded tallies from Luke Kunin and Eric Staal while Jonas Brodin, Marcus Foligno, Jason Zucker and Zack Mitchell joined in on the scoring spree. Devan Dubnyk needed the support with four goals given up on 33 shots.

New York fell behind 3-1 after one period and their rally fell short. The Islanders received scoring from Anders Lee, Nick Leddy, Mathew Barzal and Anthony Beauvillier but Thomas Greiss struggled with all six goals allowed on 33 shots.

Over is 4-0 in Penguins last 4 road games and Penguins are 5-1 in their last 6 overall and under is 5-1-1 in Penguins last 7 games playing on 1 days rest. Over is 7-0 in Wild last 7 vs. Eastern Conference and Wild are 0-5 in their last 5 games following a win and over is 3-0-1 in Wild last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game. Over is 4-1 in the last 5 meetings.

The offensive potential of these teams is extreme which has me looking at the over until net minders are confirmed…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
