Monday NHL action features the Minnesota Wild hosting the San Jose Sharks.
The surging San Jose Sharks have won four in a row after squeezing by visiting St. Louis 3-2 in OT on Saturday. Patrick Maroon scored in the first for the Blues and Brayden Schenn lit the lamp in the second while Jake Allen allowed three goals on 33 shots.
Timo Meier found the back of the net twice in the opening period for San Jose. Kevin Labanc tallied in overtime while Logan Couture and Tomas Hertl added a pair of helpers for the Sharks to make a winner of Martin Jones and his 17 saves.
The Minnesota Wild have been in a bit of a funk with losses in three of four following a 6-2 defeat at Florida on Friday. JT Brown and Marcus Foligno scored second period goals for the Wild. Brown also assisted and Devan Dubnyk gave up three goals on seven shots with Alex Stalock giving up three goals on 22 shots in relief.
MacKenzie Weegar and Michael Matheson each scored twice for the Panthers with Jonathan Huberdeau and Mike Hoffman also lighting the lamp.
Aleksander Barkov totaled five helpers with Evgenii Dadonov and Jonathan Huberdeau adding three assists each to lift Florida and make a winner of Sam Montembeault and his 25 saves.
