The San Jose Sharks look to stay red hot against Western Conference foes as they face off against the Minnesota Wild on Sunday.
The Sharks look for a statement road victory against the Wild in Minnesota on Sunday in what some are projecting as the upcoming Western Conference final as both of these teams have been excellent this season and are in line for a lengthy playoff run. San Jose has won four of their last five games and 10 of their last 12 against the Western Conference but will have their work cut out for them in this one against the Minnesota Wild who have won six of their last seven Sunday games and are 10-3 in their last 13 against the Pacific division. Martin Jones is expected to get the start as he will face off against Devan Dubnyk who has to be considered the favourite to win the Vezina Trophy this season.
The Wild have been one of the league’s best teams all season and they are a very impressive 17-6 in their last 23 home games and while the odds makers have the home side as the favourite in this spot they know that the Sharks are playing incredibly well and shouldn’t be taken lightly. The Wild always seem to elevate their play when they are at home but the Sharks are 7-3 in their last 10 road games so this game should come down to the wire in what is a very exciting show down on paper and one that could be significant implications on the playoff picture.
The Sharks are 4-1 in their last five overall and 15-7 in their last 22 following a win while the Wild are 35-16 in their last 51 overall and 18-5 in their last 23 after scoring two or fewer in their previous game. This should be an exciting contest and while I have been on the Wild all season this is a nice spot to take San Jose as they are lights out right now and keep it going with a win here.
