The Jets look to build on last night’s big time victory over the Nashville Predators as they head into Minnesota to battle the Wild.
The Winnipeg Jets got a huge victory at home last night against the Nashville Predators as they escaped a back and forth affair with a 5-4 overtime decision that has them within striking distance of a playoff spot in the Western Conference. The Jets sit in last place in the Central but are nine points out of a playoff spot and can cover more ground here in a head to head show down with one of the teams they are chasing in Minnesota and with some momentum carrying over in a rivalry game they should be dialed in here. Mike Hutchinson is expected to get the start as he will face off against Devan Dubnyk. Winnipeg is 8-14-2 on the road this season while Minnesota is 14-7-2 at home.
The Wild head into tonight’s game having lost back to back games and are slowly losing their grip on a home ice playoff spot as the Blues and Hawks sit well ahead of them in the Central. Minnesota does have four games in hand on the Blues though and will make one of them up here against the last place Jets so by the end of the weekend they could very well be back in a comfortable position especially with St. Louis battling some injuries at the moment and not playing very well. Minny is a great team, especially at home and while Winnipeg is coming off a big win I think they will be a bit deflated here as the Wild get the win.
