NHL action comes to the Excel Energy Center when the Minnesota Wild host the Winnipeg Jets on Tuesday.
The Winnipeg Jets play their third road game in four outings with a trip to oppose the Minnesota Wild. Winnipeg will be looking for consecutive victories after knocking off the Pittsburgh Penguins 7-1 on Sunday.
The Jets put this in the win column early with a five goal explosion in the first period. Blake Wheeler logged a hat trick with Joel Armia scoring twice for a 5-0 Jets lead after 20 minutes. The Penguins got on the scoreboard at 17:02 of the second on an Evgeni Malkin power play tally before Mark Scheifele and Brenden Lemieux scored in the third.
Winnipeg received 31 saves from Connor Hellebuyck to up his record to 5-0-1. Matthew Murray was pulled in the first period after allowing four goals on nine shots to absorb the loss for the Penguins with Casey DeSmith coming in and giving up three goals on 15 shots.
The Minnesota Wild continue their home stand when the Winnipeg Jets come to town on Tuesday. Minnesota is looking to extend their winning streak to three games after squeezing by the Pittsburgh Penguins 2-1 on Saturday night.
The Penguins got on the scoreboard first at 11:52 when Evgeni Malkin lit the lamp with the man advantage. Neither team mustered any offense in the second with just six shots apiece. The Wild received the game winner off the stick of Mikko Koivu at 9:03 of the third before turning things over to the defense.
Matt Murray played well in defeat with both goals given up on 29 shots for Pittsburgh. Minnesota received a 29 stop performance from Devan Dubnyk who improved to 3-3-1.
