The Montreal Canadiens host the Buffalo Sabres in an Atlantic NHL tilt on Thursday.
The Buffalo Sabres find themselves in a bit of a funk with losses in three of four following a 3-1 at the New York Rangers on Sunday. Conor Sheary scored an unassisted goal in the third period for the Sabres with Carter Hutton stopping 19 shots in the loss.
Jimmy Vesey scored in the second and again on the empty net for New York with Neal Pionk also lighting the lamp in the second. Henrik Lundqvist recorded 39 saves to pick up the win for the Rangers.
The Montreal Canadiens have alternated wins and losses for almost two weeks and that trend continued in a 5-3 loss at the NY Rangers on Tuesday. Tomas Tater paced the Canadiens with a pair of markers with Max Domi scoring on the power play. Brendan Gallagher and Jeff Petry each logged two helpers while Carey Price took the loss for Montreal with five goals allowed on 27 shots.
New York was balanced on offense with Chis Krieder, Tony DeAngelo, Pavel Buchnevich, Neal Pionk and Mika Zibanejad each scoring. Kevin Hayes logged three assists and Henrik Lundqvist made 31 saves to get the win for New York.
