Saturday NHL action pits the Chicago Blackhawks against the Montreal Canadiens.
The Chicago Blackhawks have won four in a row after a 5-4 win at Toronto on Wednesday. Andreas Johnsson, Auston Matthews, Morgan Rielly and John Tavares lit the lamp for the Maple Leafs. William Nylander and Mitch Marner added two assists each for Toronto but Frederik Andersen allowed four goals on 14 shots before Garrett Sparks stopped 24-25 in relief.
Chicago jumped to a 5-0 lead with Duncan Keith, Brendan Perlini, Dominik Kahun, Brandon Saad and Alex DeBrincat all scoring. Perlini and Dylan Strome each posted a pair of helpers and Corey Crawford picked up the win for the Blackhawks with 17 saves.
The Montreal Canadiens never got their offense going in a 2-1 loss at the NY Islanders on Thursday that saddled the team with defeats in three of four. Jordie Benn scored a second period goal for the Canadiens with Carey Price allowing two goals on 38 shots.
The Islanders saw Adam Pelech light the lamp in the first with Anders Lee netting the winner in the third. Thomas Greiss picked up the win for New York with 33 stops to up his record to 22-11-2.
Blackhawks are 4-0 in their last 4 overall and Blackhawks are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Eastern Conference and Blackhawks are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Atlantic.
Canadiens are 6-2 in their last 8 home games and Canadiens are 8-3 in their last 11 games as a favorite and Canadiens are 16-36 in their last 52 vs. Central.
Blackhawks are 8-2 in the last 10 meetings and under is 5-1-1 in the last 7 meetings in Montreal and Blackhawks are 4-0 in the last 4 meetings in Montreal.
Chicago is playing well enough for me to say the plus odds are too good to pass up…
