The struggles of the Detroit Red Wings continued Sunday in a 6-1 loss at Florida that saddled the team with losses in 10-11. Thomas Vanek scored a PP goal in the second for the Red Wings. Frans Nielsen posted the lone assist for Detroit and Jimmy Howard was charged with six goals on 43 shots.
The balanced Panthers saw Josh Brown, Jamie McGinn, Frank Vatrano, Jonathan Huberdeau, Dryden Hunt and Aleksander Barkov reach the scoring column.
Aaron Ekblad and Mackenzie Weegar each posted a pair of helpers and Sam Montembeault picked up the win with 19 saves.
The Montreal Canadiens took one on the chin Friday in an 8-2 loss at Anaheim for defeats in three of four. Paul Byron and Shea Weber found the back of the net for the Canadiens. Weber also assisted but Carey Price struggled in the net with all eight goals allowed on 29 shots.
Adam Henrique led the Anaheim scoring spree with a pair of tallies with Daniel Sprong, Devin Shore, Troy Terry, Corey, Rickard Rakell and Max Jones reaching the scoring column. Terry, Jacob Larsson and Nick Ritchie each posted two helpers and John Gibson stopped 35 shots to get the win.
