The Panthers look to move closer to locking up the Atlantic division as they head into Montreal to battle the Canadiens.
The Florida Panthers held on for a big win in Toronto against the Maple Leafs last night and will look to follow it up with a win in Montreal against a Canadiens team that has had a season to forget. The Cats have set a franchise record for points in a season and if they can get a victory tonight they can move four points clear of the Tampa Bay Lightning for the Atlantic division lead and lock up home ice throughout the first two rounds of the playoffs. Roberto Luongo is expected to get the call in the Florida crease after getting the night off last night and with this one being in his home town you can be sure he will be eager to get a pivotal win. Mike Condon is expected to get the nod in the Montreal crease barring any last minute change from Michel Therrien.
The Canadiens have had a very tough go this season and will not be heading to the Stanley Cup playoffs as they are set for a long off season that could warrant plenty of change both on and off the ice. Montreal does have a nice group of layers to build around and with a potential lottery pick in their grasp in the draft they could add a piece to go along with that core if the lottery balls bounce in their favour. The Canadiens are usually a tough out at home but this season has been a nightmare from start to finish and with Luongo having fresh legs and the Cats having the division within reach I think Florida gets another win in this one.
