The Devils and Canadiens complete their home and home set after the Habs took the first leg in New Jersey on Friday.
The New Jersey Devils spoiled an opportunity to take two points away from the Canadiens at home last night and while they did take one they have a shit at both tonight as they head into the Bell Centre for the second leg. The Devils have been one of the league’s surprises this season as many expected they would be league basement dwellers but past the quarter mark of the year they sit in fifth place in the Metro and are just three points back of the Penguins for the final automatic spot in the playoffs. Keith Kinkaid will likely get the call here as he will face off against a busy Mike Condon.
The Canadiens extended their Atlantic division lead with a victory over the Devils yesterday and continue to hold the league’s most lopsided margin with a nine point cushion on second place Ottawa and can add to that in this one. Montreal has had to deal with injuries to Carey Price but Mike Condon has done a great job filling in and with that roster in front of him it should come as no surprise that they are succeeding without the reining MVP. New Jersey had a chance to get the win last night and spoiled it and now they get swept with their back up in goal.
