The New York Rangers go on the road to oppose the Montreal Canadiens in a Saturday NHL tilt.
The New York Rangers were looking for a sweep of their home-and-home series with Ottawa but their offense was nowhere to be found in a 3-0 loss on Thursday. Henrik Lundqvist could not win by his lonesome with three goals allowed on 35 shots to get the loss for New York. Drake Batherson and Magnus Paajarvi gave Ottawa a 2-0 advantage in the first with Matt Duchene adding a second period marker. Duchene and Batherson also had assists to make a winner of the Senators who saw Craig Anderson record 26 saves.
The Montreal Canadiens been fading the last few weeks with five consecutive defeats capped off by a 2-1 loss to visiting Carolina on Tuesday. Phillip Danault scored in the third for the Canadiens with Carey Price getting the loss with 20 stops.
The Hurricanes received a first period goal from Victor Rask with Trevor van Riemsdyk scoring in the second for a 2-0 advantage. Curtis McElhinney came up huge for Carolina with a 48 save performance.
