|Date & Time||Friday April 24, 2015, 7:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Montreal Canadiens -160 / Ottawa Senators +140 --- Over/Under: 5
The Montreal Canadiens look to clinch their series with the Ottawa Senators at the Bell Centre on Friday.
The Ottawa Senators return to the Bell Centre looking to stave off elimination once again. Down 3-0 in the series the Senators fought off Montreal 1-0 at home to narrow the Habs series lead to 3-1 and have to win the next three or watch the rest of the postseason from the comfort of their living rooms. This was a defensive struggle for 60 minutes with each goaltender refusing to blink until Mike Hoffman let loose with a wrist shot from the left circle that eluded Carey Price at the 9:05 mark of the third period. Craig Anderson was stellar between the pipes as he brushed aside 28 shots to get the win and pick up his third career postseason shutout.
The Montreal Canadiens missed out on a four game sweep of their quarterfinal opponent for the second straight year with the loss at Ottawa on Wednesday. The Habs are still in the Driver’s Seat with a commanding 3-1 series lead but in the backs of their mind there has to be some sense of urgency. A Senators win and the series goes back to Ottawa for game six and anything can happen. The bottom line is the Canadiens need to finish this thing now because when we look at each game on an individual basis we see each were hard fought and decided by a single goal so even though Montreal leads the series they have not dominated the Senators who I’m sure are saying that in the locker room. Carey Price tried to carry his team with a 31 save effort but his partners on offense provided no support.
The under is 3-0-1 in Senators last 4 games playing on 1 days rest and 4-0 in Senators last 4 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game while Ottawa are 11-2 in their last 13 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. The over is 3-0-2 in Canadiens last 5 Friday games and is 4-0-2 in Canadiens last 6 home games while Montreal are 4-0 in their last 4 games playing on 1 days rest. The over is 5-0-2 in the last 7 meetings in Montreal and the Senators are 1-4 in the last 5 meetings in Montreal while the home team is 6-2 in the last 8 meetings. I’m waiting for goalies but right now lean home team…
