The Line: Montreal Canadiens +105 / San Jose Sharks -116 --- Over/Under: 5.5
The Sharks look to rebound after their first loss of the season to the Bruins on Thursday while the Canadiens look to continue their winning ways at home.
San Jose has looked like world beaters to start the season and while it was inevitable that they would lose at some point there was no indication as to when that was going to be and even in defeat it didn’t seem believable. The Sharks gave up a last minute goal to the Bruins on the road in Boston to drop their first regulation game of the season but they still looked very sharp on the road against one of the best teams in the league. Now, the Sharks continue their road trip this time in Montreal where they’ll be looking for their ninth win of the season while handing the Canadiens their fifth loss of the year. Antii Niemi expects to get the nod between the pipes as he matches up against Carey Price.
The Canadiens responded nicely against the Anaheim Ducks in their last outing just days after blowing an early lead against the Edmonton Oilers, an effort that was low lighted by the seemingly catalytic comments from Habs forward Lars Eller. While it may have been making a mountain out of a mole hill and obviously was exacerbated by the fact the Canadiens lost but it just goes to show that giving opponent’s any form of motivation is never a good thing especially when it is used as a scapegoat for a poor outing. Montreal did play very well against Anaheim however and will be looking for a similar outing here against the very tough San Jose Sharks. While Montreal is very good at home I really like San Jose here and while their first loss could be deflating I think there are more than enough character guys in the dressing room that’ll get the team refocused and I think San Jose shows just how much talent they have in this game. Love San Jose here.
