The Blues look to send the Canadiens to their first defeat of the season as the two league powers meet up in Montreal on Tuesday night.
The St. Louis Blues can pull off the first defeat of the Montreal Canadiens with a win at the Bell Centre on Tuesday night and in the process they can extend their own winning streak to five games and push their lead in the Western Conference standings. The Blues are 5-1 through the first six games of the season and are two points back of the undefeated Habs and the Blues have done it on the road winning 4 out of 5 outside Missouri and are looking like the Cup contenders many pegged them for to start the year. Vladimir Tarasenko continues to prove he is one of the best young players in the game and with the balance and talent this Blues team has up front it speaks loudly to his skill set that he is among the best players on the roster.
The Canadiens meanwhile have looked like world beaters to start the season and will continue to get chalk until they come back to reality but with Carey Price between the pipes this Montreal team won't lose a ton of games this season and they should be right in the mix in the Atlantic division. Montreal has a nice balance to their roster as well though I think the Blues are a little bit better across the board with the obvious exception being in goal, but Brian Elliott is no slouch and he gives his team a chance to win every night of the week. Montreal will continue to be a tough out and even more so at home this season but it is very tough to win seven games in a row in this league and while they may be well rested I think the play is on the road team here who to me is just a smidge better.
