The Canadiens and Capitals meet up in Montreal on Thursday night in a possible Eastern Conference final preview at the Bell Centre.
The Washington Capitals are one of the league's hottest team right now as they head into Montreal on Thursday as winners of their last five contests and are 17-5-1 overall this season as they continue to emerge as one of the teams to beat in the Eastern Conference. The Caps have balance all over the ice and should be considered at least a co-favourite to emerge out of the East this season as they have a ton of fire power up front, an underrated blue line, and one of the best goaltenders in hockey which altogether makes them a very tough out even against the league's elite. Braden Holtby will get the start as he will go up against Mike Condon.
The Canadiens continue life without Carey Price as they host the Caps on Thursday in what is one of their toughest matchups of the season even with Price in the crease. Montreal continues to lead the NHL with 41 points but their margin is getting smaller as both the Rangers and Capitals are within striking distance and with the way the Caps have been playing of late they could trim that deficit to four after tonight is over and done with. The Habs are a good team even without Price but they aren't a great team as he certainly is the league MVP for a reason and without him there are a ton of adjustments that need to made that against mediocre and even some good teams can go unnoticed but against one of the league's best they'll be in tough. Give me the Caps here.
