The Predators look to generate some momentum heading into the playoffs as they host the Arizona Coyotes on Thursday night.
The Coyotes head into tonight’s game sitting 10 points behind the Wild for the second and final wild card spot in the Western Conference and while the playoff participants have already been confirmed it is still nice to see the Coyotes playing at a high level all the way through. However, they are coming off an absolute thrashing on the road in Chicago and face another stiff test here against a Predators side who has been excellent since the all-star break and are looking to keep the energy up before their first round matchup. The Preds are locked into the top wild card spot and will face off against the winner of the Pacific division in the opening round which will come down the wire between the LA Kings and Anaheim Ducks.
The Predators are just 5-4-1 in their last 10 contests and having been playing their best in the last week and a bit but they have a really solid team that could very well do some damage in these playoffs. Nashville did move on from promising young defenseman Seth Jones as they tried to upgrade their scoring prowess, and while the personal addition of Ryan Johansen hasn’t quite worked out the team has been playing much better and look like the contender many expected to see that was absent before the trade. Nashville is 22-11-7 at home this season and while the game doesn’t matter too much in the standings I like Nashville to get the victory here with ease.
