The Predators look to move closer to wrapping up a playoff spot as they host the Colorado Avalanche on Monday night.
The Avs head into Nashville on Monday looking to keep their faint playoff hopes intact but with a five point deficit and only seven games remaining they have their work cut out for them and absolutely need to steal a game here against the Preds. Colorado trails the Minnesota Wild for the final spot in the Western Conference and while this season can already be considered a success in Denver you can be sure the Avs will be disappointed if they fall short of the second season and will make for a lengthy offseason that could bring a handful of changes. Colorado has lost back to back games but are still 6-4 in their last 10 games and have been very impressive on the road this season with 21 victories but will need all of their efforts here as they face off against a Preds side that has been brilliant since the all-star break.
Nashville heads into this one sitting comfortably in the first wild card spot but if they continue to win down the stretch they could very well overthrow the Blackhawks for the third seed in the Central. Nashville is 7-2-1 in their last 10 contests and have won three in a row including a 5-1 thrashing of the Columbus Blue Jackets on Saturday and with only four points separating them from the Hawks they could very well close the gap and set up a first round match up with the Central runners up instead of the victor. The Preds are pretty big favourites in this spot but rightfully so as they have been excellent of late and are 21-10-6 at home this season and while the value lies with a desperate Colorado side I think Nashville gets the win.
