|Date & Time||Saturday March 30, 2019, 8:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: Columbus Blue Jackets +105 / Nashville Predators -125 -- Over/Under: 5.5
The Columbus Blue Jackets and Nashville Predators meet Saturday in NHL action at the Bridgestone Arena.
The Columbus Blue Jackets look for another win after winning seven of their last 13 games. The Columbus Blue Jackets are averaging three goals per game and are scoring on 15.5 percent of their power play opportunities. Cam Atkinson leads Columbus with 39 goals, Artemi Panarin has 52 assists and Pierre-Luc Dubois has 164 shots on goal. Defensively, the Columbus Blue Jackets are allowing 2.9 goals per game and are killing 84.5 percent of their opponents power plays. Sergei Bobrovsky has given up 145 goals on 1,643 shots faced and Joonas Korpisalo has allowed 63 goals on 617 shots. The Columbus Blue Jackets have allowed two or less goals in five of their last seven games.
The Nashville Predators look for another win after winning five of their last seven games. The Nashville Predators are averaging 2.9 goals per game and are scoring on 12.8 percent of their power play opportunities. Viktor Arvidsson leads Nashville with 31 goals, Ryan Johansen has 49 assists and Roman Josi has 262 shots on goal. Defensively, the Nashville Predators are allowing 2.6 goals per game and are killing 81.5 percent of their opponents power plays. Pekka Rinne has given up 123 goals on 1,445 shots faced and Juuse Saros has allowed 69 goals on 838 shots. The Nashville Predators have allowed two or less goals in six of their last seven games.
The Blue Jackets are 2-5 in their last 7 games as an underdog, 1-5 in their last 6 road games and 0-4 in their last 4 games as a road underdog. The Predators are 0-4 in their last 4 games playing on 0 days rest, 1-7 in their last 8 Saturday games and 2-5 in their last 7 vs. a team with a winning record. The Blue Jackets are 4-24 in the last 28 meetings in Nashville and 15-41 in the last 56 meetings. The under is 6-1 in Blue Jackets last 7 overall. The under is 20-7-2 in Predators last 29 overall.
Both of these teams are getting after it defensively and playing solid hockey overall with the playoffs right around the corner. The Columbus Blue Jackets obviously need this game more and have a rest advantage. The problem is the Predators have won seven of the last nine meetings against the Blue Jackets and have had little issues shredding them on the defensive end in most of those meetings. The Nashville Predators are also coming off two nice road wins, the type of performances that can add an extra pep in the step despite playing on the end of a back to back. I'll side with the Predators and the cheap price.
