The Vegas Golden Knights visit Bridgestone Arena to face the Nashville Predators.
The Vegas Golden Knights have been rock solid in their first year of existence with quality scoring leading the way to a surprising first place in the Pacific. Vegas is coming off a rare loss in a 3-2, overtime defeat to the visiting Edmonton Oilers on Saturday. The Golden Knights saw Reilly Smith and William Karlsson do all their scoring in the second period.
Edmonton received a second period tally from Patrick Maroon with Drake Caggiula scoring at 3:29 of the third. Darnell Nurse won it at just 53 seconds in to the extra session for the Oilers while Connor McDavid logged two helpers to make the 34 saves of Cam Talbot stand up. Marc-Andre Fleury absorbed the loss for Vegas with a 27 save effort.
The Nashville Predators lost to the Pittsburgh Penguins in the Stanley Cup finals as the number eight seed and are playing at a high level with second in the Central with an eye on a higher seed in 2017-18. Nashville has won back to back contests following a 2-1 win versus the Edmonton Oilers.
The Predators did all their scoring in the opening period with Craig Smith and Viktor Arvidsson lighting the lamp with Arvidsson adding an assist. Connor McDavid lit the lamp for the Oilers 45 seconds in to the second with Cam Talbot absorbing the loss with 22 saves. Pekka Rinne picked up the win with 25 stops for Nashville.
Under is 4-0 in Golden Knights last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and Golden Knights are 9-1 in their last 10 vs. a team with a winning record and under is 6-1 in Golden Knights last 7 when their opponent allows 2 goals or less in their previous game. Under is 4-0 in Predators last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and under is 5-1 in Predators last 6 vs. Pacific and under is 4-1 in Predators last 5 overall.
The spread is high for Nashville and I’m looking at some value in backing the Golden Knights…
