The Kings look to shake off some rust and get back in the win column as they face off against the surging Predators in Nashville on Saturday.
The Kings look to add another victory to their tally on the road in Nashville tonight and distance themselves from the Anaheim Ducks for the Pacific division lead in the process after what has been a soft stretch for them in terms of victories. LA looked to be in cruise control a month ago but their sub par play and the rise of the Ducks and Sharks has it as a three team race heading into the final 25 games of the regular season. Los Angeles is still considered in many circles to be a Cup contender and with the defense led by Norris Trophy candidate Drew Doughty playing in front of Jonathan Quick it is easy to see why but don’t be surprised if the Kings add a piece or two at the trade deadline to bring them up to speed with some of the others.
The Predators meanwhile are making a serious push at a wild card spot as they and the Colorado Avalanche currently hold down the two extra spots in the Western Conference bracket heading into the weekend. The Preds are 5-3-2 in their last 10 contests and have turned up the heat since the all-star break and while they can be happy with their turn around they have to stay level as there are a ton of teams in the mix, any of which stands a chance at getting into the postseason. This is going to be a very exciting game between two defensive oriented sides but in the end I like the team with the better offense in this situation and to me that is the Kings.
