The Wild look to shake out of their funk and get a big road win against the Predators on Saturday night in Nashville.
The Minnesota Wild dropped a 1-0 decision against the Winnipeg Jets last night which can’t do a whole lot for their confidence in the offensive zone as the Jets aren’t really known for their defensive prowess. The Wild play their second division rival in as many nights against the Preds in this one in a game that both teams desperately need to win as they jockey for position in the Central division. Minny is 8-6-6 on the road this season but they have lost three straight games and head into Nashville to battle the Preds who haven’t been much better as losers of eight of their last 10 overall. Devan Dubnyk will likely get the call here as he will go up against Pekka Rinne.
The Predators are in a tough spot right now as their road woes have them in sixth place in the competitive Central division and while they are still very much in the mix for a playoff spot they can sense their grip slipping quickly and if their futility continues they could move into being sellers at the trade deadline. Nashville does have a decent roster and acquired Ryan Johansen to help them in the offensive zone but they need a heck of a lot more than that if they’re going to challenge any of the top teams in the league come playoff time. This is a game I am staying away from as both have been awful of late but if I had to take one side it’d be with the visitors who I think are a little bit better overall.
