The Predators look to snap their four game losing streak as they return home to face off against the New York Islanders.
The Isles head into Nashville on Thursday night looking to reclaim top spot in the Metro division and send the Preds to their fifth straight loss which would easily set their season low for futility at the worst possible time. New York is in a dog fight with the Rangers, Capitals, and Penguins for playoff seeding and while all four currently hold on to a spot you can bet all of them would like to claim home ice advantage and avoid playing one of the conference's top seeds in the opening round. The Isles are coming off an overtime loss but will go right back with Jaroslav Halak as he will battle with Pekka Rinne who needs to get his team out of this funk before they relinquish their grip on the Central division standings.
The Predators picked the wrong time of the season to go on a four game losing streak and while they have built up enough of a cushion in the division to still feel comfortable you can't be developing any bad habits this late in the year. Nashville has been great all season long especially on home ice where they find themselves here but I am not entirely convinced this is a Stanley Cup worthy squad and I think we are starting to see flashes of that now. Nashville does have a great defensive core and some emerging talent up front and obviously with Pekka Rinne starting there is a chance to win every night but against the good teams across a seven game series it could be tough for the Preds to get through a tough Western Conference. However, I do like them to rebound here as their defensive game will take over and on home ice where they have been so dominant I don't see them dropping another.
