The Nashville Predators look to stay red hot on home ice as they welcome the San Jose Sharks to town in a potential Western Conference final preview.
The Sharks have been a tad inconsistent to start the season and will look to make a statement on the road against one of the league’s best teams but if recent trends are any indication San Jose is facing an uphill battle on Tuesday night. San Jose is a humbling 3-13 in their last 16 meetings in Nashville against a Preds side who is off to a 7-1 start so far this season and has been dominant on home ice. San Jose is among a handful of teams considered a threat to win the Cup after they added Erik Karlsson to their blue line and while they haven’t looked the part so far there is still plenty of hockey left to be played and this could be a great time for the Sharks to put the rest of the league on notice.
The Predators are coming off an early exit in last season’s playoffs as they fell in the Western Conference semi-final to the Winnipeg Jets and they have been on a revenge tour ever since as they have coasted through the early part of their schedule. Nashville has one of the best teams in the NHL and dominated foes in the Pacific division lately with a 19-7 mark in their last 26 contests and with their recent history of success over the Sharks they are in a good position for a follow up in this one. The Preds are 4-1 in their last 5 meetings against the Sharks and are 13-3 in their last 16 at home and the teams have contributed to the over in 5 of the last 6 games at Bridgestone Arena.
San Jose is 35-16 in their last 51 Tuesday games and are 1-5 in their last 6 following a win while the Preds are 51-23 in their last 74 home games and the home team is 48-19 in the last 67 contests between Nashville and San Jose. This is going to be a great game to watch but the Preds get it done at home at a reasonable price.
