The Predators look to build momentum from their pre All-Star break surge as they take on one of the league’s best at home on Tuesday night.
The Blues head into Nashville on Tuesday looking to get off on the right foot to start the second half of the season but they will be in tough as Pekka RInne and the Preds look to tighten up defensively after an uncharacteristic first half. St. Louis sits in third place in the Central division and are only three points back of the Stars for second which would go a long way in determining home ice advantage in the opening round and perhaps beyond as the Central race is going to come down to the wire. St. Louis is starting to get healthy and that is scary news for the rest of the league as they possess one of the deepest teams in the league and while they have their hands full in hockey’s toughest division they are certainly capable of playing with the big boys. Brian Elliott continues to start in goal as he will go up against Rinne.
The Preds meanwhile got stuck with the all-start break at the worst possible time as they had won four in a row heading in and were coming off a huge road win in Calgary and while they can certainly build on it it must be tough to be stagnant during a positive trend. The Preds sit in fifth place in the log jammed middle of the Central division and with this being a huge contest in the long run in terms of playoff positioning I think it is going to come down to the wire between two good teams. In the end though, the Blues are the better team and with so much time off I think they capitalize on their depth and hand it to the Predators in the end.
