Two of the league's best teams meet up in the Music City on Tuesday as the Nashville Predators host the Tampa Bay Lightning.
The Lightning head into Tennessee on Tuesday night looking for a big time statement victory over the Nashville Predators in a clash of one the league's best defenses against one of the most prolific offenses. Tampa has a ton of scoring weapons as we saw a season ago en route to the Eastern Conference title and berth in the Stanley Cup and if they can continue to produce this season they will be right back in the discussion come June. The Bolts are 4-2 on the season so far posting a 2-1 record on the road while the Predators are 4-1 and have won both of their games at home. Pekka Rinne will get the nod in goal for Nashville as the Lightning will counter with Ben Bishop.
The Predators have come a long way in the last two seasons as they went from drafting in the top five of the NHL draft to once again being a Western Conference playoff contender and now there are rumblings that they are back in the mix as a threat to win the Central. Nashville is a very sound team defensively but they do have some offensive weapons as well led by Flilip Forsberg and James Neal but if the Preds are in the running as the trade deadline approaches I can see them adding a goal scorer to the mix as they need a little bit more help to push them over the edge. As for tonight though, I do think defense wins out and while Nashville is known to have a tenacious defense the Lightning are great at the back as well and I think in the end the visitors can do enough to get a big time road win against a solid opponent.
