The Nashville Predators welcome the Vancouver Canucks to Bridgestone Arena for Thursday NHL action.
The Vancouver Canucks end a six game road swing with a visit to the Nashville Predators. Vancouver opened the trip with back to back victories but have since dropped three straight capped off by a 5-2 defeat versus the New York Islanders on Tuesday night where the surging Isles would not be denied with another big scoring effort. The Canucks received scoring from Bo Horvat and Thomas Vanek while Anders Nilsson allowed all five goals on 36 shots.
The balanced New York attack featured goals from Calvin de Haan, Andrew Ladd, Jordan Ebele, Andres Lee and John Tavares. Adam Pelich gave the Islanders a pair of assists while Jaroslav Halak recorded 23 stops to help New York to wins in seven of eight.
The Nashville Predators have been the hottest team in hockey for weeks and they want to continue racking up the wins. Nashville has won ten of 13 following a 3-2 decision versus the visiting Chicago Blackhawks on Tuesday night. The Predators opened the scoring at 3:16 of the first on Filip Forsberg’s goal and less then two minutes later Chicago struck back with Tommy Wingels lighting the lamp.
Nashville’s Austin Watson scored the only goal of the second period before Roman Josi gave the Preds a 3-1 advantage at 2:32 of the third with the man advantage. Chicago ended the scoring around the midway mark of the third with the respective defenses controlling things over the final ten minutes. Pekka Rinne made 37 saves to help Nashville to the win with Anton Forsberg stopping 28 shots in defeat.
