The Line: Nashville Predators -190 / Vancouver Canucks +171 --- Over/Under: 5
The Nashville Predators welcome the Vancouver Canucks to the Bridgestone Arena for Tuesday night NHL hockey
If the season ended today, the Vancouver Canucks would be five points out of the final playoff spot in the Western Conference. Things didn’t get any better Wednesday in a 6-3 loss to the visiting Minnesota Wild as both ends of the ice struggled. Brandon Sutter was Vancouver’s offensive star with a pair of goals with Bo Horvat also scoring but the 33 stops by Ryan Miller fell short. The Minnesota offense featured a career first hat trick from Mikael Granlund with Zach Parise, Mikko Koivu and Mike Reilly also scoring. Devan Dubnyk picked up the victory with a 24 save performance.
On home ice and facing the Detroit Red Wings, the smart money was on the Nashville Predators. It turns out the smart money wasn’t so smart as the Red Wings were celebrating a 1-0 victory. You have to score to win and the Predators peppered Detroit with 42 shots but never broke through making Pekka Rinne and his 18 stops something of a tough luck loser. Things started fast for the Wings who saw Mike Green score the only goal of the game in the very first period. The real Red Wings was between the pipes in goalie Petr Mrazak who recorded a monster 42 stops in the victory.
The under is 3-0-1 in Canucks last 4 games playing on 2 days rest and the Canucks are 2-10 in their last 12 games following a home loss of 3 or more goals while the Canucks are 1-4 in their last 5 vs. Western Conference. The Predators are 4-0 in their last 4 vs. Western Conference and the under is 9-1-1 in Predators last 11 vs. Pacific while the under is 6-1 in Predators last 7 vs. a team with a losing record. The home team is 4-0 in the last 4 meetings and the under is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings while the Canucks are 14-6 in the last 20 meetings in Nashville.
Vancouver has been far superior in this match up but we’ll see who is in the nets first…
