The Line: Nashville Predators -150 / Winnipeg Jets +130 --- Over/Under: 5.5
Bridgestone Arena and the Nashville Predators host the Winnipeg Jets in a Monday NHL hockey bout.
The Calgary Flames are the hottest team in the land and the hot streak comes at a perfect time with many teams scrambling for position for the postseason. The Flames turned up their defensive intensity to earn a 3-0 victory at the Winnipeg Jets Saturday. The player of the game was goalie Brian Elliott who stood tall between the pipes to make 31 saves and garner back to back shutouts while Michael Frolik, Mikael Backlund and Alex Chasson scored with Dougie Hamilton posting three helpers to provide Calgary with plenty of offense. The Jets received 26 saves from Connor Hellebuycyk but have dropped three in a row with the playoffs getting further away from them.
Good defense and timely scoring are the keys to success in any sport and the ingredients to winning a championship. Nashville had both going on Saturday and he end result was a solid 3-1 road victory versus the San Jose Sharks which came at the right time following four consecutive defeats. The Predators are fighting for a spot in the playoffs and need to string a few wins together. The Preds scoring came off the sticks of James Neal, Ryan Johansen and Viktor Arvidsson with an empty netter. Juuse Saros picked up the win with a 25 save performance for Nashville. The Sharks lone goal came from Paul Martin with 22 stops in the nets by Martin Jones being a losing effort with the team still leading the Pacific by seven points.
The over is 10-1 in Jets last 11 vs. Central and the Jets are 5-1 in their last 6 road games vs. a team with a winning home record while the Jets are 1-5 in their last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game. The over is 8-0 in Predators last 8 home games and the over is 5-0 in Predators last 5 home games vs. a team with a losing road record while the Predators are 4-0 in their last 4 Monday games. The under is 6-2-1 in the last 9 meetings in Nashville and the over is 3-1-1 in the last 5 meetings while the Jets are 3-8 in the last 11 meetings in Nashville.
The numbers say the Predators have been tough in this match up while the total has been mixed so my lean is Nashville until goalie confirmation..
