The Ducks look to snap out of their early season rut and start scoring some goals as they head into New Jersey to battle the Devils.
The Anaheim Ducks have been very sad to watch this season as they have gone from Cup favourites to doormats over night and there is still no reason for why they have underachieved so badly this season as they have a great roster. Anaheim was blanked on the road in Buffalo in their last outing and now head into New Jersey to battle the defensive minded Devils who will be starting Keith Kinkaid in place of Corey Schneider but he hasn't been a push over by any means. The Ducks are dead last in terms of goals scored this season and it isn't even close as they are averaging a paltry 1.86 goals per game and that is with the likes of Corey Perry, Ryan Getzlaf, and Ryan Kesler on the roster. If Anaheim can't fix it soon they are destined for a top draft pick which would be a huge fall considering where they finished last year and where they were expected to go this year.
The Devils are coming off a thumping at the hands of the Florida Panthers on home ice in their last outing but have a great chance to rebound here against a hapless Ducks team that doesn't seem to have any fight in them right now. The Devils have been a bit of a surprise in the Metro division this season as they sitting fourth place and are certainly in the running for a playoff spot despite a bit of an underwhelming roster that relies largely on their goaltending to generate wins. New Jersey is 7-7-3 at home this season while the Ducks are 3-9-1 on the road which spells for another tough outing from them tonight in another game that should be low scoring.
