The Boston Bruins look to snap out of an ugly funk against Eastern Conference foes as they head into New Jersey to take on the Devils on Wednesday night.
The Bruins head into New Jersey looking to snap an ugly 1-10 stretch in their last 11 games against Eastern Conference opponents but things don’t get any easier as they head into New Jersey to take on one of the league’s biggest surprises this season. Boston came into the season with some major concerns with their offense as they are very thin beyond their top line and with some early season injuries and an aging blue line and Tuukka Rask having his issues this Bruins side is in trouble and they have a ways to go before they will be back in the playoff discussion. Anton Khudobin is expected to get the start here as he will face off against Corey Schneider who will be out to give his side their seventh win in their last eight games against Atlantic division opponents.
The Devils head into tonight’s game as one of the best teams in the Eastern Conference and they have made significant strides in a short amount of time and while they have struggled on home ice this season and dating back to last year which has them at an 11-23 mark over the last 34 at home they have still put up a serviceable start to the season. New Jersey will lean on Schneider as they have done for the last few seasons but they have a ton more in the offensive zone led by Taylor Hall and this team is finding many ways to win this season.
The Bruins are winless in their last four against the Metro and 1-9 in their last 10 following a win while the Devils are 5-1 in their last six against the East and 6-14 in their last 20 against a team with a losing record. Boston is a mess right now and while New Jersey is overachieving we have to ride them until they cool off and it won’t be tonight.
