Sunday NHL action pits the Buffalo Sabres at the New Jersey Devils.

The Buffalo Sabres come in off of a 6-2 defeat to the visiting NY Rangers on Friday. Jeff Skinner scored both Buffalo goals in the second period and Linus Ullmark gave up five goals on 28 shots to get the loss.

Vladislav Namesnikov scored twice for New York with Boo Nieves, Jesper Fast, Jimmy Vesey and Pavel Buchnevich also finding the back of the net. Kevin Hayes assisted two times for the Rangers with Alexandar Georgiev stopping 31 shots to pick up the win.

The New Jersey Devils avoided a three game losing streak with a 5-4 OT victory at Minnesota on Friday. Minnesota received scoring from Brad Hunt, Joel Eriksson, Nick Seeler and Mikael Granlund. Ryan Suter posted two assists for the Wild who saw Devan Dubnyk allow all five goals on 28 shots.

New Jersey received goals off the sticks of Marcus Johansson, Will Butcher, Kyle Palmieri and Ben Lovejoy in regulation with Nico Hischier netting the overtime winner. Jesper Bratt supplied the Devils with two helpers and Cory Schneider stopped 15 shots to get the win in relief of Keith Kinkaid who allowed four goals on 17 shots.
Sabres are 14-40 in their last 54 vs. Metropolitan and Sabres are 3-9 in their last 12 games playing on 1 days rest and Sabres are 0-5 in their last 5 games as a road favorite.

Devils are 2-5 in their last 7 overall and Devils are 4-11 in their last 15 vs. Atlantic and Devils are 1-5 in their last 6 home games.

Sabres are 3-10 in the last 13 meetings and Sabres are 2-6 in the last 8 meetings in New Jersey and road team is 8-3 in the last 11 meetings

Neither team is doing much right now and both have four wins in the last ten games. I suppose I’m asking a lot for New Jersey to win back to back games…

I have been a sports fan since I was old enough to pick up a ball and have always been drawn to competition. I don't participate in sporting events any longer but I do like to provide my opinion on games and writing gives me that outlet. I won't always be right but I always put 100% in to every article I do whether it's the World Series or an 0-10 college football team. Mitch shares that same passion and allows me to express myself in my own way.
