|Date & Time||Saturday March 25, 2017, 7:00 PM (EDT)|
The Line: New Jersey Devils +109 / Carolina Hurricanes -120 --- Over/Under: 5
The Carolina Hurricanes visit the Prudential Center for an NHL hockey bout with the New Jersey Devils.
With the season winding down, the Carolina Hurricanes are looking to make a late season push for the playoffs. The Hurricanes stayed alive with a 4-1 victory at the Montreal Canadiens on Thursday and are five points behind the final Wild Card spot with ten games remaining in the regular season. Lee Stempniak paced the Canes offense with a pair of goals with Elias Lindholm and Jeff Skinner also scoring to make the 21 save performance of Eddie Lack a winner. The Canadiens offense was quiet with their only goal coming from Alex Galchenyuk who had not scored in nine straight contests. Carey Price gave the Habs 19 saves to get the loss as the Canadiens lead in the Atlantic dropped to a single point.
The New Jersey Devils are not going to the postseason as their struggles the past several weeks has taken a toll. The Devils are in the role of spoiler right now and have the opportunity to make life difficult for the playoff hopeful squads remaining on their schedule. There was no upset Thursday as the NJD visited the Toronto Maple Leafs and were saddled with a 4-2 defeat. New Jersey saw John Moore score in the first and on a third period power play but Keith Kinkaid was charged with three goals on 29 shots to get the loss. The balanced Maple Leafs received goals from William Nylander with Josh Leivo, James Van Riemsdyk and Connor Brown which was more then enough support for Curtis McElhinney and his 30 stops to keep the team the team hot with wins in seven of nine.
The over is 3-0-1 in Hurricanes last 4 when their opponent scores 2 goals or less in their previous game and the over is 3-0-1 in Hurricanes last 4 road games while the over is 3-0-1 in Hurricanes last 4 overall. The over is 4-0-3 in Devils last 7 vs. a team with a losing record and the over is 2-0-3 in Devils last 5 games playing on 1 days rest while the over is 2-0-2 in Devils last 4 vs. Metropolitan. The under is 3-0-2 in the last 5 meetings in New Jersey and the under is 8-1-4 in the last 13 meetings while the Hurricanes are 4-10 in the last 14 meetings in New Jersey.
New Jersey and the under have done well against the Hurricanes so perhaps the under depending on goalies…
