Wednesday night was about as disappointing a loss as the Detroit Red Wings have had all season long. Leading the Philadelphia Flyers 3-2 heading into the third period the Red Wings collapsed, allowing four goals over the final 20 minutes in a 6-3 loss. Jimmy Howard couldn't stop anything thrown his way in the third period and the Flyers took advantage of Red Wings penalties all night long in this one. The Red Wings allowed Philadelphia to score on all three chances with the man advantage and it's a mark like that which will add up to losses in this league. Tomas Tatar scored twice, including in the second period to give the Red Wings a 3-1 lead. Johan Franzen added his eighth of the season which broke a 1-1 tie in the second period. Howard finished the night with 28 saves but was just brutal in the final period when the Red Wings needed him most. Bouncing back might come a little easier on Friday night against a New Jersey Devils club that's really had struggles of their own scoring this season. New Jersey snapped out of their rut in the third period on Wednesday night against the Montreal Canadiens but ti wasn't enough to find a way to win. Trailing 1-0 heading into the final frame the Devils got goals in the first half of the period from Andrei Loktionov and Michael Ryder to jump out in front 2-1. Montreal would tie it with under four minutes to go but then New Jersey looked to score the game winner on Patrik Elias' wrist shot with under two minutes to play. Instead, the Devils allowed the Canadiens to come right back down and get in front of their net where David Desharnais redirected a point shot from Brian Gionta. Reid Boucher scored for the Devils in the shootout but Cory Schneider allowed both Montreal shooters he faced to score and New Jersey fell by a final of 4-3. It's already the sixth overtime loss of the year for the Devils who are an underwhelming 11-12-6 on the season. This is a big spot for New Jersey who heads to Madison Square Garden to take on the Rangers on Saturday night. Detroit will be looking to erase that third period from their minds with a bounce back win themselves, so this one should be tightly contested. It's always hard to know which Devils team is going to show up but in a game that's virtually a toss up I'll take the underdog.

On July 1, 2008 I typed into Google "How Do I start A Blog" and I started my first website called "Miami Mitch's Place" where i shared my college football Picks and predictions as well as opinion. By the Fall I had heard from many that the title made it sound like the site was about Miami so I changed it to "College Football Place" (, After the 2008 college football season I change focus and launched, it wasn't long after that when I realized I just wanted one place to add all sports, and that's when Sports Chat Place was born.

This site is a big Thank You to all of our readers, visitors, and community where we have been given a platform to talk to the masses about sports and hopefully help put you on some winners. If you need to reach me just shoot an email to [email protected]
