The Devils look to contnue their surge and make a late push towards the playoffs as they host the Oilers in New Jersey on Monday.
The Edmonton Oilers had a great opportunity to extend Toronto's losing ways at the ACC over the weekend but the visitors laid an egg and were absolutely pasted in a building where they normally have a lot of success. The loss extends Edmonton's awful season and now they continue their road trip in New jersey against a Devils team that is 6-2-2 in their last 10 games and are playing their way out of a top end draft pick. Edmonton has been going with Viktor Fasth of late but could send Ben Scrivens back between the pipes here as one of them will go up against Corey Schneider who is quietly having a very successful season for the underachieving Devils.
New Jersey has hda tough year and while the playoffs are still a bit of a long shot in the Eastern Conference they are certainly doing their best to turn things up here in the second half of the season. The Devils are coming off a loss on the road against the Canadiens but should be in a good position to get back in the win column here against the lowly Oilers and with a win New Jersey can move to within a single point of Philadelphia in the Metro division standings. The Devils haven't been good on the whole but have been playing very well of late and with Schneider here going in the crease there is no reason not to back New Jersey at home against Edmonton.
