The Nashville Predators look to build on their big shootout road win against the Flyers last night as they take on the New Jersey Devils on Tuesday.
The Predators stormed back late in the third period and outlasted the Flyers in an exciting shootout last night and will look for a similar result in this one as they continue their road trip to New Jersey. Nashville had been slumping heading into Philadelphia and they still haven’t had a ton of success in this recent stretch as they are 1-4 in their last five games and have really struggled against the Metro division as they were 0-4 in their previous four games before taking down the Flyers last night. Nashville though does match up well with the Devils as they are both very defensive oriented teams with great goaltending and with the Preds in a back to back here and this being their fourth game in six days I think we see even more of that tonight.
The Devils meanwhile have been on a tear at home of late as they 9-3 in their last 12 games but unfortunately for them they have been on a lengthy road trip and are a woeful 3-13 in their last 16 games. New Jersey has struggled against the Western Conference as they are 2-7 in their last nine games in inter-conference show downs and if they’re going to find a way to solve the Nashville defense they will need a big game from Taylor Hall and their top forward line. Corey Schneider is expected to get the start for the Devils as he will likely matchup with Pekka Rinne.
The Preds are 0-5 in their last five games when playing in a 4-6 set and are 16-36 in their last 52 when playing the back end of a double header while the Devils are 8-23 in their last 31 when playing on one day’s rest and 8-3 in their last 11 against a team with a losing record. The Preds got the win last night but I think they are in trouble here, especially if Rinne sits as New Jersey is has a bit more up top right now.
