The Islanders look to improve their standing in the Metro division as they head into New Jersey to battle Cory Schneider and the Devils.
The New York Islanders head into New Jersey for a Metro division show down with the Devils on Friday night as they battle with the Rangers and Penguins for the second and third seed with New Jersey in the mix as well. The Isles head into this one in third spot with 67 points in 56 games and a 30-19-7 mark but are coming off an overtime loss last night to the Washington Capitals and will need a big effort on the road to keep a grasp on their spot in the Eastern Conference playoff picture. The Islanders are a meagre 11-11-3 on the road this season which pales in comparison to their impressive home mark and coming off a game against the Caps last night they will need to turn up the intensity with Jaroslav Halak back in the crease.
The Devils meanwhile continue to move as far as Cory Schneider can push them and with another underrated and underappreciated season in the works it is clear he is among the league’s elite in terms of goaltenders. The Devils are in the thick of it in the Eastern Conference playoff picture and heading into tonight’s game sit in fifth place and are two points out of third. The Devils have played two additional games to this point and need to take advantage of these head to head matchup if they’re going to sneak in and for this one I expect them to show up and get a momentum victory.
