The Line: New Jersey Devils +131 / New York Rangers -145 --- Over/Under: 5
The New York Rangers travel to the Prudential Center for an NHL Hockey tilt with the New Jersey Devils.
The New York Rangers seem to put everything together when they go on the road and that trend continued with a 3-2 victory at the Minnesota Wild on Saturday night. The Rangers offense came off the sticks of Brady Skjei, Jimmy Vesey and Oscar Lindberg with Lindberg also registering an assist. Antti Raanta logged another start in place of the injured Henrik Lundqvist and recorded 25 stops to get the win. With the victory, New York has won a league leading 26 road games and dropped six straight at Madison Square Garden. The Minnesota Wild were challenging the Chicago Blackhawks for the Central Division lead and the best record in the Western Conference a few short weeks ago but have dropped seven of nine (8-10 after loss to Jets). Matt Dumba and Eric Staal provided the offense for the Wild while Devan Dubnyk stopped 27 shots.
The New Jersey Devils and the Columbus Blue Jackets have been heading in opposite directions for awhile and that trend continued in a 4-1 decision at the Prudential Center on Sunday. With the win, the Blue Jackets punched their ticket to the postseason while the Devils have one victory in the last 13 contests. Adam Henrique scored the lone goal for New Jersey with Cory Schneider absorbing the loss. Boone Jenner pace the Blue Jackets offense with a pair of goals with one being while shorthanded. Lucas Sedlak and Brandon Dubinsky gave Columbus goals on penalty shots for a new NHL record while Sergei Bobrovsky came through with 35 saves to help the Blue Jackets to their 12 win in 16 games.
The over is 4-1-1 in Rangers last 6 games following a win and the Rangers are 4-1 in their last 5 games playing on 2 days rest while the Rangers are 1-4 in their last 5 games following a win. The Devils are 0-6 in their last 6 after scoring 2 goals or less in their previous game and the Devils are 0-4 in their last 4 in the fourth game of a 4-in-6 situation while the over is 3-0-2 in Devils last 5 overall. The over is 4-0-1 in the last 5 meetings in New Jersey and the over is 2-0-2 in the last 4 meetings while the home team is 5-1 in the last 6 meetings.
The New York Rangers have looked good here and an argument for the over can be made but I’ll go with the visitors until goalie confirmation…
