The Devils look to build on last night's emphatic victory over the Hurricanes as they return home to do battle with the Philadelphia Flyers.
The Flyers head into New Jersey on Friday night looking to win their fourth game in a row as it appears as though they are finally starting to gel after a stagnant start to the year and if they get the two points tonight they will move to within a single point of the Devils in the Metro division. Philly wasn't expected to do a whole lot this year despite having a ton of hype surrounding their type line but a slow start from Claude Giroux and Jakub Voracek has the Flyers teetering on selling the farm and that fringe time may run out soon. Philly heads in to New Jersey with a 10-10-5 record with eight losses coming on the road so they know full well it'll take a team effort to earn the victory here against a Devils team flying high after last night's drubbing of the Canes.
The Devils are quietly making some noise this season as they are staying afloat in the Metro division and entering action tonight they sit just four points back of the Isles for the third automatic entry into the Eastern Conference playoffs. New Jersey has ridden the play of their defense and the goaltending of Corey Schneider to their mark so far this season and that likely won't change as we move forward despite having a handful of role players in the offensive zone who have contributed nicely. It'll be interesting to see who gets the call in the New Jersey crease tonight as it will shift the line but either way I think Philly's winning streak ends as the Devils get another big win.
