The New Jersey Devils look to snap out of their losing ways against the Metro division as they welcome the Pittsburgh Penguins to town on Tuesday night.
The Penguins head into New Jersey looking to break out of a funk against the Devils who have had Pittsburgh’s number over the last couple of seasons as they are currently stuck in a 1-6 stretch in their last 7 contests against the Devils. Pittsburgh has been one of the league’s best teams over the last decade and always seem to elevate their game when people are expecting them to trend downward and they are in the mix for top spot in the division once again this season. Pittsburgh is 5-1 in their last 6 games as a slight road favorite and are 7-2 in their last 9 games against divisional opponents but they are a disappointing 7-17 in their last 24 games in New Jersey.
The Devils meanwhile were a trendy pick to do some damage in the Eastern Conference this season as they made a surge up the standings last year and really looked like they had turned a corner, but this season they don’t look so hot and are going to be in the mix for a top draft pick. The Devils are 17=35 in their last 52 games as an underdog and are 2-5 in their last 7 home games which doesn’t bode well for them here against a Penguins side who has had some tough outings lately and will be out to make a statement on Tuesday.
The Pens are 11-3 in their last 14 games playing on a single day’s rest and are 11-5 in their last 16 against the Eastern Conference while the Devils are 1-4 in their last 5 following a win and winless in their last 5 Tuesday games. New Jersey is in tough here and while they opened as a small dog it has since grown as a ton of money is pouring in on the Pens and for good reason.
