The San Jose Sharks and New Jersey Devils meet up on Sunday after both teams had Saturday night off and should be ready to go.
The Sharks started the season with a loss but have looked like the Cup contender everyone expected of them over the last week or so and now have a chance to make another statement on the road as they take on the New Jersey Devils on Sunday. San Jose has one of the best blue lines in the NHL and have a wealth of depth up top led by Joe Pavelski, Joe Thornton, Logan Couture, and Tomas Hertl and against any team in a 7-game series they should be considered a favourite. They face off against a Devils side on Sunday that has become a trendy pick to make some noise in the Eastern Conference this season but aside from the matchup in goal the Sharks have the edge in most categories and should be a solid bet on the road here.
The Devils meanwhile have some impressive wins under their belt and still have one of the best goalies in the league in Corey Schneider alongside the Hart Trophy winner in Taylor Hall from last season. New Jersey is even money at home and will likely receive some sharp money as the Sharks are in the midst of a lengthy road trip and may see this game as an overlook but they haven’t been in action for quite some time and should be well rested in a game that caters to their style of play.
San Jose is looking like a Cup threat with each passing period while the Devils remain a fringe team that needs a lot more progress before they can confidently be taken against one of the league’s top teams. Give me the light price on the road team here to win another statement game.
