The Jets look to sweep their first double header of the season as they travel from Boston to New Jersey on Friday while the Devils play in their season opener.
The Winnipeg Jets made an early statement on Thursday night as they pasted the Bruins in their season opener on the road and while Boston is a depleted bunch they are still a tough team to beat especially at the Garden and Winnipeg threw up six on them in a convincing victory. The Jets are a good team that went to the playoffs a season ago and will be looking to make amends for their lackluster finish a season ago when they were swept by the Ducks in the opening round and with the group they have it wouldn't surprise many to see them advance past where they faltered last season. The Jets are playing in a back top back but with this being just their second game of the season there shouldn't be much rest or tired legs as we will grow accustomed to seeing later in the season.
The Devils meanwhile are playing in their season opener and will be looking to improve on last year's disappointing season but they are in the midst of a rebuild and may struggle once again this year despite having one of the more underrated goaltenders in Corey Schneider. The Devils don't have a ton to offer at either end of the rink and don't match up considerably well with the Jets and the oddsmakers have this game on point right now as the Jets should be favoured even though it is in New Jersey and Winnipeg is on a back to back. However, I think this game will be a little closer to the vest than the result in Boston produced last night and as such I like the under in this one.
